We should not presume that humanity is on some unremitting march of progress. History is better characterized as a series of advances and retreats. Things can turn on a dime.
The Author of Life puts on humanity and enters into the Story. The Word becomes flesh. The Almighty stoops to save. In a nutshell, ‘God saves.’
To be educated is to be led out of oneself. Industrial schooling does a dismal job of this. The Church must stop abdicating her educational responsibilities.
There are now as many who claim no religious affiliation as there are Protestants and Catholics. These so-called ‘nones’ are not the heady pragmatists they like to think, but rather practitioners of a new faith.
In our upside down world things are unraveling fast. It’s impossible not to notice.
There is a perception that we have no established religion in the United Sates. This is wrong. The first amendment establishes a de facto religion.
We should not assume that we understand the world better than our ancestors. “We just see it differently – and may indeed be seeing less than they did.”
People often thank me for my service. This is always awkward. I never know how to respond. I finally figured out why.
This is a spiritual war, not a culture war. And spiritual war requires an entirely different type of warrior.
